Meaningful legislation must address the reality of immigrants already living in Colorado while honoring and respecting family unity. A broken immigration system and inhumane and dysfunctional immigration enforcement policies are unacceptable.
2014 Policy Platform
End local law enforcement’s collaboration with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), thereby enhancing immigrants’ trust and cooperation with police in the investigation of crime
Pass comprehensive immigration reform with a path to citizenship for the 11 million estimated undocumented individuals living in the United States
Halt anti-immigrant policies and ordinances that tear apart families, promote racial profiling, and are divisive to communities
End workplace raids that result in workers’ placement into deportation proceedings
Renew of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which allows certain young people often referred to as Dreamers to live and work in the United States without threat of deportation
Expand the existing Deferred Action program to also include individuals who would qualify for legalization under S.744, the bipartisan 2013 Senate bill, to live and work in the United States without threat of deportation
Allow non-citizens to serve on municipal or statewide boards and commissions
